About Me

My name is Sarah Hoyt and I aspire to be an elementary school educator. I love to work with children and enjoy seeing them progress and learn in different areas. In 2001, I began my post-secondary education at Providence College, 30 kilometres south of Winnipeg, Manitoba. I not only received my Bachelor of Arts in Music Ministries while there but also gained a tremendous amount of leadership and life experience. I was the vice-president of my student body, the resident assistant in my dorm, on the yearbook committee and worked in many other areas to gain experience in leadership. I graduated and moved back to Fredericton in 2004 where I married my best friend and confidant. In October of 2004 I was hired for my first job in my music career as the Worship Coordinator at Grace Memorial Baptist Church. I love the challenges and blessings that I have had since working at Grace and I am sure that I will continue to enjoy my time there as I work on developing the muscial talents and music appreciation of my congregation.

In 2005 I began working on a second degree at St. Thomas University in Psychology and English and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in the spring of 2008. I am currently working towards completing my Bachelor of Education specializing in Elementary Education. I would love to teach music but would also really enjoy teaching in the younger elementary grades.

While working at Grace Memorial, I have been responsible for the multimedia area of the worship as well as the music. I manage the multimedia team and sound team. I have worked with some video in this area. I was trained in the first half of the Microsoft Certification course while studying at Providence College. I work with computers regularly and can usually "figure out" how to use programs but am not savvy in the hardware area. I am in awe of the SmartBoard everytime I see it used and cannot wait to find out how it all works. Technology excites me and I am really looking forward to what the technology course in the St Thomas Education program will offer!

I love to play the piano and sing and have done both since the age of five. I also enjoy sitting on the dock at Davidson Lake with a great book and lots of sun! I love to swim and am always looking for excuses to be in a pool or a lake. I generally enjoy life and hope that I can pass that love onto the children that I will work with in the future.
